Your Tax Dollars At Work with Power Abuses

July 15th, 2010

On Monday, July 12, 2010, after a meeting in the Vancouver City Hall, Mayor Gregor Robertson, along with Vision Vancouver councilors Tim Stevenson and Heather Deal, were bad-mouthing speakers who appeared to object to council’s plan to hand-select 12 people for an advisory committee to work on a controversial scheme to create short-term rental in the West End. Transcripts of certain remarks are available here, as well as later in the following video, courtesy of YouTube:

If you or your parents paid thousands of dollars this past year on property taxes in the City of Vancouver, don’t you feel proud on how your tax dollars are being put to use? Don’t you feel proud about how arrogant and ignorant the diplomats are when in power, politicizing on every issue to maintain their best self-interests?

Even if you do not live in Vancouver, the same arrogance and ignorance applies to you, especially if you live in the United States. Caterpiller, John Deere, and AT&T had $150 million, $150 million, and $1 billion chargeoffs on retiree obligations just earlier in the year, as shown in the following video. The chargeoffs with those Fortune 500 or 1000 companies would result in further layoffs, when the American economy is desperate for more workers to be hired. The only beneficial consequence of the health care reform legislation is hiring 17,000 more employees in the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to chase down after your money.

Again, are you proud of the abuse of power with this example? Whether your government claims to be “communist”, “democratic”, “liberal”, or “conservative”, most of the politicians are talking sh*t. They are abusing the power that they have once it is acquired to safe-keep their hidden agendas.
